Seventa celebrates a season of success at the inaugural 'Christmas in Cambridge'
Join us as we reflect on delivering the debut season of Christmas in Cambridge, where we transformed Parker’s Piece into a festive hub, welcoming over half a million visitors to experience the magic of the season.
What a season it’s been! As Christmas in Cambridge wraps up, we’re reflecting on an incredible first year bringing festive magic to Parker’s Piece. From 14th November to 5th January, we had the privilege of creating a brand-new Christmas event that became the heart of Cambridge’s holiday celebrations.
Bringing Parker’s Piece to Life
In partnership with Cambridge City Council, we transformed Parker’s Piece into a winter wonderland. With over 500,000 visitors and 50,000 skaters, Christmas in Cambridge quickly became a must-visit destination for festive fun. We’re thrilled to have played a part in making this season so special for the community and visitors alike.
As part of our transformation of Parker's Piece, we set to work transfroiming the iconic park with a whole host of festive entertainment, including:
The Ice Rink: A stunning outdoor rink where over 50,000 guests took to the ice.
The Alpine Lodge: Perfect for festive drinks and live music with friends and family.
The Apres Terrace: Featuring curling lanes, shuffleboard tables, ski gondola booths, and a DJ to keep the vibes alive.
The Big Wheel: Offering breathtaking views over the city.
Family Favourites: The Christmas Tree Maze and vintage carousel delighted visitors of all ages.
A Curated Christmas Market: Full of unique gifts and festive treats.
Street Food Stalls: Serving everything from Yorkshire pudding wraps to Christmas churros—delicious!
Incredible Feedback
We’ve been blown away by the amazing feedback from visitors. Lisa Riley-Holmes shared, “We went last night and booked an Alpine Lodge booth. It had a great atmosphere, good craft and food stalls. Next year we will be booking the curling and ice skating as well!”
On social media, the love kept pouring in. With over 600,000 unique visitors to our website and 6,000 new followers, it’s clear Christmas in Cambridge captured hearts far and wide.
A Destination Worth Travelling For
One of the best parts of the event was welcoming visitors from all over the UK. Whether they travelled from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, or Cornwall, guests told us how much they appreciated the intimate charm and world-class attractions at Parker’s Piece. It’s wonderful to see Cambridge becoming a festive destination in its own right.
A Team Effort
None of this would have been possible without our incredible team and partners. From the early planning stages to the final twinkling light, everyone worked tirelessly to make Christmas in Cambridge a success. Simon Brooks, our Director, summed it up perfectly: “We are thrilled to have welcomed over half a million visitors this year. The feedback has been incredible, and it inspires us to make next year even bigger and better.”
We also want to thank Cambridge City Council for their collaboration and support. As Cllr Martin Smart put it, “The festive attractions, including the real ice rink, Christmas market, and the enchanting Christmas Tree Maze, have brought joy to residents and visitors alike. This season has truly been special.”
Looking Ahead
As we pack away the lights and reflect on an unforgettable season, we’re already planning for next year. We can’t wait to make Christmas in Cambridge 2025 even more magical, with new surprises and cherished favourites for everyone to enjoy.
