Creating the Ultimate Christmas Party for 2500 Guests: Our Collaboration with CDC Events

When CDC Events approached us to make use of our Christmas in Cambridge site for their client’s private Christmas celebration, we were more than ready to help take the event to the next level. Together, we crafted an unforgettable Apres-themed party that left 2,500 guests amazed. From jaw-dropping entertainment to cosy igloo lounges, it was a night full of festive magic — even with a few unexpected challenges along the way.

Christmas in Cambridge is already an incredible site, featuring everything you’d want for a festive celebration: ice skating, curling lanes, a funfair, and the ever-popular Alpine Lodge. But we wanted to go even further for this event.To make the evening truly stand out, we worked with CDC to add massive inflatable domes to the site. These unique spaces provided stylish, sheltered spots for guests to relax with a drink, enjoy entertainment, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere. The domes became a focal point of the event, combining functionality with wow-factor design.

Planning any event comes with its challenges, but nothing quite tests your skills like an unexpected storm. When Storm Darragh decided to crash the party (literally) on the original event date, we had to act fast.In just a few days, we reimagined the entire event, rescheduled suppliers, and liaised with ARM, our client, to secure a new date. It took a monumental effort, and plenty of late nights, but the result was worth every second. Seeing guests enjoy themselves after all the hard work made it all worthwhile.

From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in festive fun. Here’s what made the event truly special:

• An Exclusive Winter Wonderland : Guests had the entire Christmas in Cambridge site to themselves, including ice skating, curling, the big wheel, and more.

• Unmissable Entertainment:

  • Bavarian dancers, Lederhosen acrobats, and an Oompah band set the scene.

  • Roaming acts like fire breathers, LED hula hoopers, roller skaters, and even Segway skiers kept guests entertained throughout the night.

  • Live music from local musicians brought the party to life, followed by a DJ and sax combo to keep the energy up.

• Themed Igloo Experiences : Inside the larger inflatable dome, guests found glitter artists, winter sports simulators, photo ops, and a dance floor that stayed packed all night.

You can’t have a great party without great food. Cambridge Dining Co. delivered delicious themed snacks, along with sweet and savoury street food served from Alpine-style huts. Add in festive drinks and plenty of cosy spaces to enjoy them, and the vibe was just right.
