Guess Who's Back!
The past week saw us pack up our bucket & spade (and a few other bits) as we returned to the golden sands of Bournemouth Beach to deliver Arts University Bournemouth’s Graduation ceremonies!
What a week it was! With 6,000 eager students, friends and families to prepare for we were delighted to undertake the planning and delivery of AUB’s ceremony.
Now in our 3rd year of delivering this truly unique ceremony, we were ready to make up for lost time and what better way to return than with the challenge of a beach build during a lesser spotted British heatwave!
With the ceremony taking place on the prime real estate of Bournemouth Beach, we enlisted the expertise of our Senior Events Manager Rosie Mooney to help plan the perfect belated celebrations for the class of 2020.

Always game for a challenge, we had just 4 days (including a busy beach weekend) to bring the ceremony to life with our 750 sqm grand marquee, toilets, generators, fridges, bar units, rustic decorations and of course giant light up letters for those all-important graduation pictures (the beach wasn’t a bad backdrop either!)
“As we started the build we didn’t know if we would still be in tier 3 until a week before the event and freedom day was the first day of the event. With this in mind, we adapted the marquee by having the marquee 50% open to aid ventilation and to comply with outdoor event restrictions” - Rosie Mooney
Build complete, it was time for the long-awaited return of events with 2 ceremonies per day, stretched over 3 days and welcoming 1,000 guests per session, our team was on hand to run the bar, security, and logistics of the entire event.
For us, this was the highlight as we had front row seats to see people celebrating their first post freedom day event with the freedom to mix and celebrate - the free bar and live band helped!
After the celebrations, it was time to return one of our favourite sites back to its pristine best as we de-rigged and packed away, leaving nothing but memories of an unforgettable ceremony and the long-awaited return of events. We can’t wait to return for our 4th year next July!
